A typically glorious summer day in the city set the scene for Alex and Kieran’s intimate celebration amongst closest family and friends. Choosing to get ready on opposite levels of the home, they finally met at the top — sharing an intimate first look on their home balcony overlooking the city.
The couple’s deeply personal and joy-filled ceremony — officiated by Minister Alyson Joy — was held on lush back patio of Tanto Restaurant, with an enviable feast to follow. Beyond the sizzling array of Argentinian entrees guests were treated to Red Lobster biscuits as an app (a special request made by the couple) as well a round of Coors Lights to toast to the bride’s father.
In that particular time of distance, words shared both in the day’s vows, speeches and from table to table were poignant, heartfelt and uninhibited, urging the ultimate importance of friendship, love and family. Tissues were well-used.
As the sun lowered in the sky, the couple made regular escapes with partygoers to the vibrant back alley of the Queen West venue to take spontaneous portraits alongside the mix of graffiti and greenery that make Toronto its weird and wonderful self.
As the couple gave a final toast before the true fete begin, groom Kieran said to the onlooking guests “It wasn’t the wedding we’d planned — but it was the wedding we always wanted.” Alex cried, I cried, the day was perfect.
